Lizzo and Sexyy Red Bring Chaos and Comedy on “HOES”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The movie theaters are gonna be lit this summer.

Lizzo and Sexyy Red link up on “HOES,” and honestly, this track gives the vibe that it belongs on Scary Movie from the jump. The production immediately stands out with eerie background sounds layered over a heavy, hard hitting beat that gives the whole song a slightly spooky atmosphere.

Even with the darker sounding production, the lyrics themselves are much more lighthearted and funny. Lizzo and Sexyy Red spend the track joking around, talking their talk, and basically arguing that the world would be boring without hoes in it. It is bold, unserious, and completely committed to the bit.

Lizzo opens the song rapping through the first verse, bringing a confident and animated delivery that really sets the tone. Then Sexyy Red slides in during the second verse with her usual unapologetic energy, adding even more personality to the track. The chemistry between the two actually works really well because neither artist feels like they are trying to overpower the other. Instead, they bounce off each other naturally and keep the energy high all the way through.

This is not a song trying to be deep or emotional. It is meant to be loud, fun, chaotic, and a little ridiculous, and honestly, it succeeds at exactly that.
