With D12 Forever on the horizon, their first project since last year’s Return of the Dozen, Vol. 1, D12 continues building anticipation through “Nightmare Walking,” a new collaboration with Ice T and Xzibit.
The production attached to the track is dark and dramatic, mixing eerie textures with a hint of West Coast influence and a surprisingly triumphant feel. Lyrically, everyone involved sounds locked in, delivering tough, competitive bars packed with attitude and intensity. The chemistry between D12, Ice T, and Xzibit works naturally, giving the track the feel of a gathering of rap veterans who still know how to whoop ass.
It may not reinvent the wheel sonically (aka it sounds slightly outdated), but the energy and rapping talent on display make it an enjoyable listen.
