1900Rugrat has continued proving he’s more than a viral moment. While his trolling can sometimes overshadow his music, there’s no denying that he knows how to make entertaining records when he focuses on the craft. His newest track, “Lil Birdy,” is another example of that.

Contrary to what some people might assume, this isn’t connected to Drake’s “Lil Birdie” in any way. Rather than delivering a freestyle, 1900Rugrat gives listeners a fully original track loaded with chaotic energy. The song blends whistling effects, an aggressive instrumental, and bars centered on strip club experiences and reckless fun.

Does the beat do much for me? Hell no. Do the lyrics break new ground? Absolutely not. What this track does prove, though, is that 1900Rugrat has a style that is completely his own. He finds pockets in beats that most rappers wouldn’t even think to attack, and that’s a skill only a handful of artists truly possess. More than anything, this song left me impressed by his talent, even if I didn’t necessarily enjoy every second of it.
