The rapper wants fans to know the difference between her art and artificial copies.
Doja Cat is pushing back against the growing AI music problem after fans mistakenly believed leaked AI-generated tracks were authentic songs from the superstar.
The “Paint The Town Red” rapper recently addressed the situation online, revealing that she had no involvement with the songs circulating under her name. While AI has become a growing tool in music creation, it has also created a new wave of confusion for artists who are seeing their voices and styles replicated without permission.
Doja expressed her disappointment after seeing fans believe the tracks were actually hers. She posted on X, “Really disappointed in everyone thinking that’s me :/ F*** AI for real.”
She later doubled down, making it clear that none of the leaked songs were connected to her. “All of those songs that are leaking that they’re saying are mine are AI. None of it is me,” she wrote.
The frustration adds another layer to Doja Cat’s ongoing relationship with online criticism. Throughout her career, she has often responded directly to fans and critics when she feels her artistic choices are being misunderstood.
In an interview with Vogue, Doja explained that she sometimes feels the need to defend herself when she believes people are questioning her creativity. She admitted that criticism can make her feel like she is failing, even when the situation may not actually be serious.
The rapper also acknowledged that she hopes her relationship with social media changes over time. Looking ahead, Doja said she hopes that by the time she is 50, she will no longer engage in online debates.
While Doja has always embraced creativity and experimentation, she wants fans to recognize that AI-generated material is not a reflection of her actual artistry. As technology continues evolving, artists like Doja are being forced to navigate a new era where protecting originality has become more complicated than ever.
