Larry June Returns With Another Laid-Back Anthem On “Organic Motion”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

A funky California-inspired rap gem blending retro grooves, laid-back flows, and a celebration of personal victories.

Larry June has every reason to talk his s**t right now. Rumors are swirling that he secured a relationship with Jhené Aiko, so at this point, all I can do is salute him and let him enjoy the moment. Outside of the headlines, though, Larry is back doing what he does best musically with his new single “Organic Motion.”

The song feels like a perfect Larry June record from the second it starts. Built around a Rick James sample, the production delivers a funky, retro California atmosphere that feels warm, smooth, and nostalgic. I could actually see it fitting perfectly on the Menace II Society soundtrack.

Larry keeps his usual calm and effortless delivery but switches things up by adding a little more bounce and excitement to his flow. Throughout his verses, he reflects on enjoying the fruits of his labor, living comfortably, and appreciating everything he has earned.

Though the track doesn’t stray too far from what you’re used to hearing from him, it’s summertime, so it’s definitely something you need in your rotation.
