NLE Choppa is a wild dude.
NLE Choppa is back with yet another new style for his latest single, “LIGHT IT UP.” The last time we saw him, he dropped the first diss track ever (Aimed at his rival NBA YoungBoy) where the protagonist was dancing his ass off. This time around, rocking a new ridiculous hairstyle, he’s back to his nonsensical ways.
“Light It Up” features bouncy production with vintage (early 2000s) vibes and trap drums. It’s the type of s**t you’d hear during a club scene on a TV show where the characters definitely aren’t supposed to be. Of course, NLE Choppa goes wild on the track, toying with numerous flows and singing styles, sounding like he’s on a lunch break during his exorcism.
To be fair, there are moments I thought were catchy, especially the chorus, and even a few pockets that had me doing the famous JAŸ-Z nod because I found a slight groove. However, the track as a whole is just too wild to take completely seriously. As for the lyrics, I’m not even going to tackle that part. All I heard was “light it up,” “back it up,” and “Jesus,” and I have no clue how they all connect.
