KATSEYE’s “WILD” Set for Massive Billboard 200 Debut

KATSEYE has a formula that’s working right now.

KATSEYE is having quite the moment right now. The group’s new project, WILD, is projected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 120,000–140,000 equivalent album units in its opening week, according to @HITSDD.

If the projections remain consistent, KATSEYE will score its first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Considering how much the group has grown over the past year, this feels like a pretty fitting milestone.

WILD only contains five tracks, but there’s plenty of star power packed into those songs. Released through HYBE and Geffen, the project features the popular “PINKY UP” and “Animal.” It’s short, but that might actually be part of the appeal. KATSEYE has been keeping fans fed with music without forcing them to wait forever between releases.

The numbers are especially interesting when you look at where the group was last year. Beautiful Chaos debuted at No. 4 with 44,000 equivalent album units, despite featuring major songs like “Gnarly” and “Gabriela.” The latter is now nearing one billion Spotify streams.

Now, WILD could potentially more than triple that opening-week figure. That is a significant upgrade and a clear indication that KATSEYE has built some serious momentum.

Maybe the answer is simple: keep giving the people music before they have time to get impatient. Whatever the strategy is, it seems to be working.
