Rod Wave’s latest album is already dominating streaming platforms.
Rod Wave’s new 24-track project Don’t Look Down earned 8.73 million first-day streams, giving the project a strong opening before Rod even gets through his first full week of release.
Then there’s the Apple Music songs chart, where things get even crazier. Every single one of the album’s 24 tracks is currently charting inside the Top 40 in the U.S. That’s a pretty remarkable feat for a project this lengthy.
Usually, you’ll see an album’s biggest single or two dominate the charts while the deeper cuts struggle to gain traction. Rod Wave is experiencing the complete opposite. His listeners are apparently going through the entire tracklist, giving every song enough attention to chart.
Don’t Look Down also continues Rod’s evolution as an artist. The album blends his familiar emotional songwriting and soulful vocals with street-focused themes, money talk, relationship experiences, and a noticeably more aggressive attitude.
It’s still early, but the first signs are extremely encouraging. Reaching No. 1 on Apple Music U.S. within five hours, collecting 8.73 million first-day Spotify streams, and putting all 24 songs inside Apple Music’s Top 40 is a monster start.
I keep trying to tell y’all that Rod Wave is a big dog.
