Mati Delivers a Warm Experimental Love Song With “baggu”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This might just be my favorite release this week.

Mati is a Minnesota-based rapper by way of Ethiopia with an unbelievable ear for music. When you combine that gift with his willingness to experiment and push creative boundaries, you have a superstar in the making. On his latest single, “baggu,” Mati takes that experimentation to another level.

Warm, silky production brings “baggu” to life, with soothing synths and a head-bobbing rhythm that even No-Neck Ed would struggle to resist. Mati glides over the beat with an emotionally charged performance, using altered, high-pitched vocals to express himself. The unusual delivery makes the song feel deeply personal—almost as if Mati is inviting us to spend a day or two in an emotional stratosphere he rarely allows others to see.

Lyrically, Mati describes “baggu” as a “love song at war with itself.” He talks about staying strong for someone who deserves his devotion and dedication, but doubt keeps circling that promise. He sounds committed yet unsettled, letting vulnerability sit beside loyalty instead of pretending love is always simple.

The melodies are beautiful, the production is high-quality, and the lyrics carry real emotional weight. I truly believe you will enjoy this track.
