Jhené Aiko’s 20-track comeback album will reportedly feature Kendrick Lamar, Larry June, Ab-Soul, Tyga, and OHMA.
Jhené Aiko has finally opened the doors to WESTSIDE WHIMSY. Ahead of its Friday, September 11 release, the R&B singer unveiled the official tracklist for the long-awaited project, revealing 20 songs and a carefully selected group of collaborators.
Kendrick Lamar, Larry June, Ab-Soul, Tyga, and OHMA will appear across the album. Just based on the guest list, it seems Jhené has chosen artists who can comfortably enter her atmospheric world. Larry June, her rumored boyfriend, should bring an unmistakably relaxed West Coast presence; Ab-Soul will supply history and lyrical depth; and Tyga will hopefully deliver a hyped, AI-free performance.
Still, Kendrick Lamar’s name will understandably dominate the conversation. He appears on “So Good,” marking another collaboration with Jhené after the fan-favorite “Stay Ready (What a Life).” Their reunion alone gives listeners a major reason to press play when the album lands.
The verse will also begin a back-to-back feature run for Kendrick. “So Good” arrives September 11, followed one week later by his currently untitled collaboration with AZ Chike on September 18. After AZ Chike’s memorable contribution to Kendrick’s “peekaboo,” it appears that Kendrick is returning the favor as Chike prepares to release No Rest for the Wicked.
Jhené has not released a studio album since Chilombo in 2020. Six years later, WESTSIDE WHIMSY looks ready to make her return feel substantial.
