Finally, we get to see what’s in Slipknot’s new “arsenal.”

Every rock fan and metalhead has heard of Slipknot. Formed in the ’90s, the heavy metal band built its reputation on high-energy, chaotic, and relentlessly angry music. Their signature masks also reflect who the members are and how they have evolved over time.

Now, Slipknot has returned with “Arsenal,” its first newly recorded song since ‘The End, So Far’ and its first release following the 2023 Adderall EP. The single also arrives after major lineup changes, welcoming drummer Eloy Casagrande while marking the departures of Craig Jones and Sid Wilson.

As expected, “Arsenal” delivers Slipknot’s signature punishing sound. The track makes you want to headbang, scream, and lose your damn mind. I can already picture a huge mosh pit opening up the moment a live show begins. The mid-song guitar solo is incredible, while the arrangement carries an angry, angsty “shut out the noise” attitude.

Lyrically, Corey Taylor confronts the pressure to chase trends and the voices claiming Slipknot’s greatest accomplishments are behind them. He responds with pure defiance and intensity.

Personally, I love the entire “this is who we are, whether you like it or not” agenda. That commitment to authenticity is stamped all over “Arsenal.”
