Westside Gunn Announces “HEELMATIC” Album for November 13

Westside Gunn’s scary-ass will return next Friday the 13th.

Westside Gunn is preparing to release HEELMATIC on Friday, November 13. The 16-track project arrives through Griselda and Mass Appeal, with “ZILLA” available now as an early preview.

In a post on X, Gunn explained that he had been preparing Awesome God 3, which he had announced as his final solo album. Then Mass Appeal’s Legend series inspired him to change plans and create an entirely new tape.

He said he kept the project secret while recording in locations including the Eiffel Tower, the Acropolis in Athens, Saucony’s offices, Berlin, and Chicago.

He also explained that the gap between releases reflects the time spent making something new. His description promises grime, dust, rawness, and jazz, with a sound he compares to gospel.

As amazing as that description sounds, I still need the features and production credits before my excitement reaches its final form. Gunn’s ability to bring the right people together is a major part of the appeal. I can almost guarantee Stove God Cooks will be on it; let’s see if there will be any surprises.

Remember when Westside Gunn said he was going to retire? Good times.
