Does “Choosin’ Texas” sound like an all-time great song?
Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” apparently isn’t finished making history.
According to the circulating chart update, the song now unofficially ranks among the 10 biggest hits in Billboard Hot 100 history. That would put its sustained success in remarkable company and extend the conversation beyond country music’s biggest crossover records.
The word “unofficially” matters here. This claim shouldn’t be confused with a newly published Billboard all-time ranking. The original calculation and methodology haven’t been independently verified, so the song’s precise placement remains unconfirmed.
What’s already documented is its exceptional longevity. In September, the Associated Press reported that “Choosin’ Texas” reached a record-setting 23 weeks at No. 1. That alone showed how far this record went beyond a typical breakout hit.
Having a massive song is one thing. Keeping listeners invested long enough to enter an all-time conversation is another. At some point, you stop asking whether the record has legs and start wondering when it will finally take a vacation.
I’ve been making the case for Ella as a 2026 MVP, and this doesn’t hurt the argument. An official all-time placement would provide a firmer milestone to celebrate. For now, “Choosin’ Texas” already has a historic chart run worth acknowledging.
