Sarkodie and KiDi Deliver Sunny Afrobeats Vibes With “Deja Vu”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

A warm Afrobeats collaboration about treating love right after learning a few difficult lessons.

Sarkodie’s legendary status isn’t up for debate. Between his collaborations and devoted following, he’s earned that recognition. His single, “Deja Vu,” pairs him with KiDi, and together, they deliver the kind of smooth banger I’m always happy to hear.

The Afrobeats production is gorgeous. It’s warm, sunny, and carried by a rhythm that feels built for a beach day with no plans afterward. Play this near the water, and suddenly, you’re asking somebody how much the neighboring condo costs.

KiDi brings soft, infectious vocals that fit the backdrop perfectly. His performance gives the track its gentle appeal, while Sarkodie adds raw, hard-hitting raps that provide a contrast. Neither has to change what makes him effective for the pairing to work.

Both artists sing and rap about treating their women better after previous missteps. They recognize what went wrong and sound determined to avoid repeating it. That message fits the warmth of the music nicely.

All in all, I love the hook and the atmosphere. “Deja Vu” feels easygoing, but there’s something worthwhile behind the good vibes. I highly recommend pressing play.
