This modern version of Quavo is what I want to hear.
By now, you’ve probably heard me say this three times: Quavo dropped a four-pack yesterday, and I liked a good chunk of it. After the pivot he made with his Pharrell-produced project QROMELIFE, it feels good to hear him back in his element. The very catchy “Watuhname” keeps that feeling going.
This track’s slick, quirky trap production is next-level. There’s something about the backdrop that makes Quavo’s delivery fit especially well. He doesn’t have to force the energy or do anything outrageous to keep things entertaining.
Instead, he brings an extra catchy flow, plenty of swagger, and bars about his trap past, bad-ass chicks, and $500 haircuts (Isn’t that excessive?). Quavo sounds completely unbothered, delivering everything with the kind of ease that suggests his blood pressure is doing significantly better than mine.
Overall, “Watuhname” is a solid track that plays to his strengths. The production stands out, the delivery is slick, and the flow gives you something to come back for. Quavo has my attention heading into whatever he releases next.

Quincy is the creator of Ratings Game Music. He loves writing about music, taking long walks on beaches, and spaghetti that fights him back.
