MoneyBagg Yo – RESET (Album Review)

When it comes to listening to authentic/unadulterated trap music, MoneyBagg Yo is one of my go-to-artists! Something about his persona resonates with me, despite the fact that the words ‘Money Bag,’  ‘Trap’ or even ‘Yo’ represent things I know absolutely nothing about. Anyway, in his first studio album, he looks to put all the supposed real ones onto game, gifting us with a fifteen track doozy that almost plays like a hood bible.    (more…)

For one, he isn’t really a rapper, and secondly, he hasn’t really produced a bunch of new music. Nonetheless, he’s remained relevant, and as a result, “Poison,” his first album since 2007, is one of the most anticipated in hip hop this year. (more…)

Metro Boomin’ – Not All Heroes Wear Capes (Album Review)

Metro Boomin’ was the producer of the year in 2017, and in my opinion, it wasn’t even close. His rapport with trap artists such as Offset, 21 Savage and Future made him a go-to-guy, especially for artists who needed some kind of spark to get their career going. In 2018, Metro has been quieter than a mouse, opting to play the back while other producers like Murda Beatz and Tay Keith took over the game. With “Not All Heroes Wear Capes,” the Atlanta native looks to make his triumphant return, reminding us all that heroes don’t have to speak, either.
