Thank you, Landon Sears, for giving me this blast from the past.
Landon Sears is a Kentucky rapper and multi-instrumentalist now based in Nashville, Tennessee (Or, Tenne-key). What makes him stand out is his versatility. Over the years, he has skillfully merged confident raps with elements from various genres, including pop and R&B. He also often tries his hand at singing, adding another layer to his diverse musical style.
In “Chrome On The Wheels,” Landon Sears’ latest single, he taps into a sound that brings back nostalgic vibes. The song features Young Buck and Bubba Sparxxx.
They don’t make tracks like “Chrome On The Wheels” anymore. Driven by a catchy, funky instrumental, you get a kick-ass hook and verse from Landon Sears, where he talks about his fly whip and expensive style. I rock with how he channels this carefree, vintage style.
Young Buck and Bubba Sparxxx each deliver vintage rap verses. Buck hits us with exuberant vocals, a steady flow, and lyrics that remind us he’s still that dude, while Bubba uses a bouncy flow to speak on his country roots and universal impact. It’s wild how they both sound like they haven’t lost a single step.
Songs like these make me appreciate that I grew up on 2000s hip-hop.
