 5. WYB Quan

Rich Homie Quan tells us about his whereabouts in “WYB Quan.”

Do I think “WYB Quan” is one of the greatest tracks I’ve ever heard? No, but I appreciate what it addresses. Throughout the track, Rich Homie Quan updates us on his life, discussing his investments, the unreliable individuals he’s been associating with in various cities, and the exclusive meetings he’s attended. Aside from the content, I also enjoy the track’s super catchy hook and the overall smooth, confident delivery he brings throughout.

4. One Of Quan

Quan really was one of a kind.

The first thing that jumps out in “One Of Quan” is the diss Rich Homie Quan directs at Gunna, accusing him of stealing his flow and criticizing others for copying him without giving proper credit. However, it’s important not to overlook the other standout aspects of this track. In particular, I enjoy the relentless flow Quan plays with, the introspective reflections he offers, and the recognition he seeks for his contributions. The gentle production also adds a smooth backdrop to the song, making the overall vibe very engaging.

3. Ah’chi

I don’t know what “ah’chi” means. I looked up the Urban Dictionary definition of the word and still don’t know what it means.

Let’s address the elephant in the room: Rich Homie Quan sounds identical to Lil Baby in “Ah’Chi.” He adopts Lil Baby-like melodies, flows, and even the characteristic whining. Lyrically, he tells his tale of rising from the mud and becoming a role model for the dope boys. That being said, the highlight of this track is 2 Chainz’s verse. He delivers with a relentless flow, punchy energy, and lyrics that showcase his dominance and readiness to shut down his haters. All in all, I think this is a dope collaboration.

2. All Of Me

The line where Rich Homie Quan says his woman looks like a trans because she’s got a d**k (referring to a gun) that’s long is wild.

For those who thought Rich Homie Quan was soft, you need to listen to “All Of Me.” Despite relying on an emotionally melodic rap style and delivering his verses over a gentle beat with heavy bass, he speaks on his readiness to confront anyone, charm women from around the world, and effortlessly stack cash. This is the ultimate flex track from the same artist who brought us “Flex.”

1. Save

I really hope Rich Homie Quan is in a better place.

I felt “Save” in every part of my soul. First and foremost, the church-inspired instrumental is unbelievably powerful. Secondly, the pain, passion, and urgency Rich Homie Quan sings with might give even a sinner like myself chills. Lastly, the things he says throughout the song are deep as hell. Especially with Quan recently passing, hearing him talk about breaking family curses, feeling the pressure to hold his family down, and his rise to success really strikes a chord. Overall, this track truly resonated with me.

RGM RATING

(B-) (81%)

Obviously, no one has ever listened to 35 tracks by Rich Homie Quan in one sitting before, but now that I have, it’s clear how easily he was able to make hits. I was particularly astonished by how many melodies he had tucked away. For him to practically have a new one for all 35 tracks is amazing, as he adapted to the primarily emotional trap beats he was given. What makes his melodies even more potent is the passion he pairs with them. So many of his choruses and verses feel like they came directly from the heart, making his words about overcoming odds, striving for growth, deserving recognition for his work in the music industry, and holding down his family even more impactful. It also struck a chord when he talked about having “mad hoes” and being ready for war (there’s something about toxic lyrics being sung that just sounds dope as f**k to me).

Overall, my biggest takeaway from this album is that Rich Homie Quan had more talent than we ever gave him credit for. Considering this album has 35 tracks (his 35th birthday was a few days ago), what he was able to accomplish here is unbelievable. It’s unfortunate he didn’t get his flowers while he was at his peak.
