5.High Fashion

Addison Rae doesn’t need a partner- she’d much rather settle for designer. She’s not looking for fake love, she’s looking for pleasure in material things. “High Fashion” is all about the desire for something expensive, something bougie, something couture. She wants to look good and feel good, not for anyone else, but for herself.

4.In The Rain

“In The Rain” allows us to take a deeper dive into Addison Rae’s emotions. The song really sheds the singer’s tough exterior and allows us to see her in a more vulnerable way. Addison talks about faking smiles and crying in the rain, so nobody can see her true feelings and weaknesses. She mentions past mistakes and feeling misunderstood, but she also says that she tries not to let it get to her.

3.Fame Is A Gun

“Fame Is A Gun” is all about Addison Rae’s rise to fame despite trials, controversy or haters. The singer talks about what it’s like living a glamorous life, and everything that it took to get there. She is diving feet first into the celebrity life, exploring different industries and wanting to try new things. She tells her fans that she’s going down in history no matter what, because she’s got this fame thing in the bag.

2. Headphones On

“Headphones On” is the last track of the album, closing out “Addison” on a memorable note. The song is about coming to terms with pain and struggle, accepting it and allowing yourself to push through it and move forward anyway. Pain is inevitable, after all, so you might as well turn on your favorite song and keep on going. It’s a bittersweet track that I feel many can relate to.

1. Diet Pepsi

Addison Rae’s single “Diet Pepsi” was released in 2024, and it did numbers on the charts. This track is super catchy and flirty. It’s all about young lust, first times, late nights and breaking rules. The track talks about steamy car windows and ripped blue jeans, and people are here for it. It tells a story that brings nostalgia to many of its listeners.

RGM RATING

Addison Rae just released her very 1st studio album, and it gave me a lot of mixed feelings. Her album “Addison” blends electro, synth pop, bubblegum and dance to create a unique sound that still fits with the songs you typically hear in the radio. The artist is influenced by artists like FKA Twigs, Charli XCX, but also artists Like Britney Spears and Madonna, and you can totally tell.

The album was okay overall. Many of the songs were quick to get stuck in my head. They were simple feeling, light and catchy. However, it felt like we were missing some depth here. A lot of these songs felt surface level, with only one or two diving slightly deeper and bringing out different emotions for the artist. While she admits she hides her negative emotions and puts in a smile, I wish we would’ve gotten to see that side of her within the music.
