3. BASKIN ROBBINS

I’ll be real with you: one of the biggest reasons “BASKINS ROBBINS” by Deej McGee caught my attention is the beat. It flips the iconic Kanye West-produced “Some How, Some Way” by Jay-Z, one of my favorite beats of all time. But what makes this track special isn’t just the sample—it’s what Deej does with it.

Deej brings his own flavor to the instrumental, delivering cocky, confident bars about his grind, cutting off distractions, and making the right moves in life. His flow stays tight from start to finish, never missing a step, while his punchlines land with ease, especially the clever Baskin-Robbins line, which brings the whole track together with style.

As a self-proclaimed hip-hop head, this one hit home for me. Classic sample, sharp bars, and an emcee who clearly respects the culture? Yeah—I’m a fan of this s**t.

2. PERISSA BAY

I’ll be the first to admit I’m new to Deej McGee, so “PERISSA BAY” is the perfect introduction. Over a mellow beat accented with soulful background vocals, Deej gives listeners a vulnerable yet confident look into his journey.

Throughout “PERISSA BAY,” Deej raps about his rough start in music, the early doubters, failed relationships, and his climb toward success—all while staying true to who he is. Despite the introspective nature of the lyrics, there’s a boldness in his delivery that commands attention. His straightforward rap style lets the lyrics breathe, giving every bar space to land with impact.

There’s something refreshingly unfiltered and humble about this track—it doesn’t scream for attention, but it earns it. If you’re into honest storytelling and soul-tinged hip-hop, “PERISSA BAY” will hit for you.

1. YOUR BEST

Wait—Deej McGee sings too? On “YOUR BEST,” he puts up an impressive vocal performance that proves he’s more than just a rapper. Backed by a stripped-down instrumental that deliberately never fully takes off, Deej fills the space with raw emotion, passion, and heartfelt melodies.

The track dives into the highs and lows of a past relationship, touching on the good, the bad, and everything in between. What makes “YOUR BEST” stand out isn’t just the lyrical honesty—it’s the effort. Deej pours himself into every note, making each word feel like it carries real weight. The result? A song that demands to be played more than once—I hit repeat three times without even realizing.

Deej McGee has it. And if you’re wondering what “it” is, just press play on DEEJ’S WORLD.

As natural and unforced as it gets, DEEJ’S WORLD showcases Deej’s ability to effortlessly shift through a wide range of styles—moving from soulful ballads to stripped-down confessions to modern, psychedelic soundscapes. What’s most impressive is that, through every shift in tone and genre, Deej stays authentically himself.

Throughout the project, he sings fearlessly about love, opens up with heartfelt vulnerability, and reflects with a surprising level of introspection and wisdom. On the production side, the variety is equally rich—you’ll hear trippy, experimental beats, TDE-inspired instrumentals, smooth slow jams, and more.

In many ways, DEEJ’S WORLD feels like a demo tape—but not in a rough or unfinished sense. Instead, it’s a showcase of range, depth, and undeniable talent. Deej McGee is clearly experimenting, exploring, and flexing his creative muscles—and the results are genuinely dope.
