During a recent interview, Fif reflected on making Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and explained how different Hollywood feels compared to the music industry. When artists are recording songs, they can spend days, weeks, or even months perfecting every detail before releasing anything. Movies don’t work that way.

According to 50, filmmaking is one giant collaboration. Directors, producers, actors, editors, and countless other people all help shape the final product. That means you don’t always get the last word, even if you’re the star.

He believes that’s the biggest reason Eminem stepped away after 8 Mile. Someone who’s used to having complete control over every lyric, beat, and mix may not enjoy handing pieces of that control over to dozens of other people.

What’s funny is that 50 eventually figured it out. Since Get Rich or Die Tryin’, he’s become one of the entertainment industry’s biggest television producers thanks to the Power universe and several other successful projects.

It’s an interesting perspective, and honestly, it sounds pretty believable. There’s still time for a sequel, too. 1900 Rugrat can play Em’s son on it.
