Lil Baby – Street Gossip (Album Review)

Lil_Baby_–_Street_Gossip.png

I’m not going to lie, I did not see Lil Baby’s rise to the top coming at all. Since releasing “That’s My Dawg” in 2017, he’s had a couple of singles and albums that did really well on the billboard charts. Today, the Atlanta native looks to keep his success going, releasing this thirteen track project called “Street Gossip” that might very well feature a version of the rapper that has his chest sticking out. Trey Songz – 11.28 (Album Review)

Whenever Trey Songz decides to hang up the mic, he will go down as one of the most successful singers of his era. I feel like for my generation, he broke down barriers, ushering in a style of R&B music that meshed pretty well with trendy hip hop. At the age of 34, I still think he has a couple of good years left in him, and with the release of “11/28,” a double-disc/star-studded project, it seems music execs and his peers think so, too. Tekashi 6ix9ine – DUMMY BOY (Album Review)

6ix9ine-dummy-boy.jpg

Tekashi 6ix9ine is one of the most outlandish public figures I’ve seen in years.  Unfortunately, because of this, not much praise has been given to him for having a pretty solid record when it comes to charting on the Billboard 100. Now that it looks likely that the rainbow-haired rapper will see some serious jail-time, DUMMY BOY might very well get its chance to receive credit where credit is due, mainly because it won’t have its own maker’s distractions getting in the way of its shine. (more…)

There isn’t many MC’s in the game that is as real as Black Thought. With over 20 years of experience on the mic, the Philly native has done everything from rep his city to play prophet to a culture that badly needs it. In his latest offering, “Stream Of Thoughts, Vol. 2,” the key cog of The Roots continues to show this level of hunger in his music that cannot be altered or destroyed.  (more…)

Stream OJ Da Juiceman’s “Da Trap Boss”

One thing I know about OJ Da Juiceman is that his ad-libs will one day go down in history as one of the best the hip hop game has ever seen. However, knowing how to ad-lib can only carry you so far… With “Da Trap Boss,” OJ’s whopping 26th project since 2007, he looks to show the world that he’s more than just a gimmicky trap rapper, gifting us with fifteen tracks full of authentic bangers done primarily by his lonesome. Stream Pro Era’s “Peep The Apocalypse”

The re-release of “Peep The Apocalypse,” Pro Era’s 2012 masterpiece, comes with a brand new song called “Know The Rules.” That means, for the most part, track-listing you see up top is very similar to the original, but no need to worry, for those who haven’t heard the original, it is good as s**t. Joey Bada$$, CJ Fly & Kirk Knight all do their thing, showing the world why New York rap’s future was so damn bright back in 2012.  (more…)

Boosie Badazz has found his groove in the hip hop game after doing a brief stint in jail for drug charges. Not only has he worked with some of the best in the game in the process, but he’s also been able to expand on his artistry, too. In his latest project, “Boosie Blues Cafe,” the Baton Rouge rapper is as experimental as he’s ever been, giving us this full length album that is all in blues.   (more…)

Stream Key Glock’s “Glockoma”

I approve of Key Glock! He isn’t the most intricate rapper, but he does have a knack for making some of the rawest/grittiest trap music known to man! In “Glockoma,” his latest effort, he was able to gift us with some authentic/trill s**t that has him taking shots at foes, bragging about his money, and coming across as the hardest n***a since Kunta Kinte. Troy Ave is one of many New York rappers that are either facing jail-time or currently in the slammer. It’s unfortunate, but hey, when you’re living a street life, sometimes those streets come back to bite you. Anyway,  his legal issues haven’t stopped him from making music, because today, he decided to release a brand new project called “More Money More Problems.” Judging by the track-listing, I expect it to be hood-inspired, which means he probably stays true to his roots. Jaden Smith – The Sunset Tapes: A Cool Tape Story (Album Review)

If you’ve been following this site, you know that I am a major fan of Jaden Smith — so much so that I think he’s going to eventually overtake Drake’s spot as the top hip hop artist in the game. In the past few months, all he has done is drop artistic albums and feature on some pretty major rapper’s albums, making quite the impact in both. With “The Sunset Tapes: A Cool Tape Story,” Jaden gets another shot at revolutionizing the game, gifting us with a short body of work that can very well end up classic number two for him.  (more…)
