YG simply hasn’t struck out when it comes to making albums. In “4REAL 4REAL,” his fourth one, he tries to continue his undefeated streak, releasing a body of work that talks about everything from his fallen homies to fake gang members. (more…)

Ciara – Beauty Marks (Album Review)

There’s some people in this world that simply can’t catch a break from fans; Ciara is one of them. I’ve always liked the music she’s been able to make, but for some reason, it seems like she doesn’t get the publicity she deserves. In “Beauty Marks,” I predict all that changing, as the Atlanta native was able to deliver a body of work that is free, fun and empowering for individuals like herself. (more…)

Trey Songz – 11.28 (Album Review)

Whenever Trey Songz decides to hang up the mic, he will go down as one of the most successful singers of his era. I feel like for my generation, he broke down barriers, ushering in a style of R&B music that meshed pretty well with trendy hip hop. At the age of 34, I still think he has a couple of good years left in him, and with the release of “11/28,” a double-disc/star-studded project, it seems music execs and his peers think so, too. Freddie Gibbs – Freddie (Album Review)

Blac Youngsta – 2.23 (Album Review)

Blac Youngsta clearly doesn’t mind fitting into the stereotypes that comes with being a rapper: He’s loud, he’s reckless, and if you play with his money, he can become violent! Musically, Youngsta also follows a heedless approach, at times sounding even more outlandish than he does in real life. But hey, we are all too serious sometimes, so why not listen to something a little more lighthearted for once, right? (more…)

Migos – Culture II (Album Review)

Whether you like it or not, Migos are leaders of the hip hop world right now, and to me, they confirmed that in their previous album.  Not only did "Culture" have a myriad of hits, but I feel like the style that the group rapped with on the album was also emulated by everybody and their mama! So, do you think that they will have the same impact with "Culture II?" Let's find out...

XXXTENTACION – 17 (Album Review)

The most popular thing to do is to label a wild teen like XXXTENTACION as a waste of time to listen to; however, what I hear when I listen to him is an opportunity for a regular Joe like myself to enter into the mind of a rebellious teen that doesn’t care for the boxes that society wants to put him in. With ’17,’ X knows that it is his time to show the world how artistic he can be, and much to my surprise, he ends up spitting out a borderline masterpiece. (more…)

Migos’ long-awaited album, “Culture,” has finally dropped, and it has a chance to be considered one of the blueprints for trap music moving forward. (more…)
