Future – The WIZRD (Album Review)

It’s hard to believe that Future has been relevant in the hip-hop game for ten years now. To put that in perspective, he’s had longer career success than Tupac, Biggie, Nelly and Ludacris. With the release of “THE WIZRD,” his 7th studio album, he looks to continue his impressive run, doing it in a way that hip-hop critics have no choice but to respect.  (more…)

James Blake – Assume Form (Album Review)

img_3727

When James Blake was born, his parents blessed him with a generic name that is as forgettable as a white house ceremonial dinner. However, his music skills is far from generic, especially when you consider all the big name artists he’s helped make masterpieces in the past (Jay-Z, Beyonce, Frank Ocean and more). Today, the guy who’s played the back more than Nick Foles gets his chance to shine with “Assume Form,” and in my opinion, he certainly doesn’t disappoint.   (more…)

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie – Hoodie SZN (Album Review)

img_3378

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is one of the few rappers in the game that I find fascinating. Musically, he raps and sings equally as well, but in all honesty, it’s his backstory that intrigues me the most. Hailing from Highbridge in Bronx, NY, Boogie has this authentic street-persona that has made him a hero to the people of his city. However, after releasing a few hit records, he has sort-of swayed away from that world, instead, dabbling in music that is more on the commercial side of the things. With Hoodie SZN, I expect for him to go back to his gritty roots, which means savage content and a lot more street-inspired music. (more…)

YoungBoy Never Broke Again – Realer (Album Review)

YoungBoy Never Broke Again has had a damn good 2018. Throughout the year, he’s dropped eight projects in total, with his debut album being one of them. In “Realer,” his latest release, the Baton Rouge native looks to continue his growth as both a musician and man, even if that means creating music that veers away from catering to your average rap fan.  (more…)

Vic Mensa – Hooligans (EP Review)

Vic Mensa has been engulfed in all kinds of beefs these last couple of months, distracting the people from his ability to make some pretty solid music. With the release of Hooligans, perhaps he can get people to pay attention to what he does best once again. (more…)

Kodak Black – Dying To Live (Album Review)

Kodak Black has never been the most articulate dude to listen to speak, nor has he been the biggest role model, but something about the s**t he says in his music always strikes a chord with me. Maybe because he’s unapologetic about who he is, and can care less about how we view his troublesome behavior. With that being said, on “Dying To Live,” I feel like the Pompano Beach native is comfortable in his own skin, which I think results in his best music to-date. (more…)

Gucci Mane – Evil Genius (Album Review)

Earlier this week, Gucci Mane proclaimed himself ‘the best rapper alive.’ While I can’t stress to you how much I disagree with that sentiment, both his work ethic and knack for creating trap hits in his sleep may have you thinking differently. In “Evil Genius,” his whopping 98th project, he looks to continue making his case for the title, while at the same time getting the bando jumpin’. (more…)
