Benny Blanco – Friends Keep Secrets (Album Review)

Benny Blanco is a well known figure in the music industry, and for “Friends Keep Secrets,” he used some of his clout to link the biggest stars of r&b, rap and pop together for seven enjoyable tracks. (more…)

Gucci Mane – Evil Genius (Album Review)

Earlier this week, Gucci Mane proclaimed himself ‘the best rapper alive.’ While I can’t stress to you how much I disagree with that sentiment, both his work ethic and knack for creating trap hits in his sleep may have you thinking differently. In “Evil Genius,” his whopping 98th project, he looks to continue making his case for the title, while at the same time getting the bando jumpin’. (more…)

XXXTENTACION – Skins (Album Review)

XXXTentacion_–_Skins

I’m not going to lie, I am still shocked and appalled that XXXTENTACION is no longer with us. I felt at the time of his passing that he was just entering into his prime, figuring out a bunch of different sounds he could f**k around and be successful in. With “Skins,” we get a chance to see one of the last directions the Florida rapper aimed to go with his music, perhaps wowing us from deep up in the sky. (more…)

Lil Baby – Street Gossip (Album Review)

Lil_Baby_–_Street_Gossip.png

I’m not going to lie, I did not see Lil Baby’s rise to the top coming at all. Since releasing “That’s My Dawg” in 2017, he’s had a couple of singles and albums that did really well on the billboard charts. Today, the Atlanta native looks to keep his success going, releasing this thirteen track project called “Street Gossip” that might very well feature a version of the rapper that has his chest sticking out. Meek Mill – Championships (Album Review)

Sometimes, the best championship celebrations are the ones in which you had to endure a bunch of s**t to get to where you needed to get to. In Meek Mill’s case, he’s practically seen it all up into this point: We’re talking romantic relationships with pop’s elite, jail-time, deadly beefs, and money so tall, all the b*tches wanna fall! This is one of the many reasons I think his new Championships album could end up being one of the most intriguing releases this year. (more…)

Tekashi 6ix9ine – DUMMY BOY (Album Review)

6ix9ine-dummy-boy.jpg

Tekashi 6ix9ine is one of the most outlandish public figures I’ve seen in years.  Unfortunately, because of this, not much praise has been given to him for having a pretty solid record when it comes to charting on the Billboard 100. Now that it looks likely that the rainbow-haired rapper will see some serious jail-time, DUMMY BOY might very well get its chance to receive credit where credit is due, mainly because it won’t have its own maker’s distractions getting in the way of its shine. Jaden Smith – The Sunset Tapes: A Cool Tape Story (Album Review)

If you’ve been following this site, you know that I am a major fan of Jaden Smith — so much so that I think he’s going to eventually overtake Drake’s spot as the top hip hop artist in the game. In the past few months, all he has done is drop artistic albums and feature on some pretty major rapper’s albums, making quite the impact in both. With “The Sunset Tapes: A Cool Tape Story,” Jaden gets another shot at revolutionizing the game, gifting us with a short body of work that can very well end up classic number two for him.  (more…)

Creed 2: The Album – (Soundtrack Review)

One of my biggest takeaways from 2018 in hip hop is that movie companies actually tried when they put together soundtracks this year. From Superfly to Black Panther, listeners have been gifted with some very good music to accompany a couple of major blockbuster releases. Fittingly, today, Creed 2 ends the year of the soundtrack with a blast.
