Khalid – Sun City (EP Review)

Khalid is special. I don’t care about what he has going on in his personal life, I simply listen to his music, enjoy it, and that is it. With a debut album that had the world falling in love with vulnerable R&B music again, Khalid looks to expand on his low-key popularity even farther, gifting us with a short EP titled “Sun City.”  (more…)

Shy Glizzy – Fully Loaded (Album Review)

DC native, Shy Glizzy, patiently waited for his time to shine in a hip hop game that has treated other DMV artists really well these last couple of years. In his first true project, he looks to turn heads and show the world why he was once named one of the major artists to look out for by Complex. (more…)

Ella Mai – Ella Mai (Album Review)

Ella Mai has steadily risen up the R&B ranks this summer, dropping two classic hits in “Boo’d Up” and “Trip.” Today, she looks to continue her ascension to the top, dropping her first full length album titled after her short and easy to remember name. (more…)

ChrisDaCEO – Road To A Million Dollars (Album Review)

ChrisDaCEO is the definition of a young boss. At the tender age of 21, he is already the CEO of a record label named DReaM TeaM, and the Co-Founder of another one called D.B.G. records. However, in my opinion, one of his biggest strengths is his music-making ability, as he’s shown throughout his career that he can dabble in just about any style of hip hop music he chooses to pursue. In his newest project titled “Road To A Million Dollars,” everyone’s favorite businessman looks to continue his wave of success, gifting us with a fifteen track body of work that is sure to entertain. Wale – Free Lunch (EP Review)

I hate to say it, but Wale’s window of opportunity is closing fast. A career that I once thought was as promising as any one of your favorite rappers in the game (Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole included) has now seen its share of doubt. However, if you’ve followed the DMV artist these last couple of months, you know that he’s been trending in the right direction, dropping a few EP’s that I thought featured some pretty hungry bars from him. For this reason alone, I’m optimistic that he can get back on the road to success; hopefully this album can serve as a buffer. (more…)

Bas – Milky Way (Album Review)

1535022673_bas-milky-way.jpg

Bas has been relatively quiet these last couple of years, and rightfully so, this era of hip hop tends to ignore clever rappers like himself. But Dreamville’s Scottie Pippen is back, and thankfully, he’s continued to ignore both trap beats and the urge to mumble in favor of rapping over jazzy instrumentals that you would probably hear in a grocery store. Correct, the game missed Cole’s preachy raps when he was gone, but for the fiends like myself that were hanging on to every bit of knowledge Bas was dishing out to us on his previous album (Too High To Riot), we missed him just as much. (more…)

Young Thug & Young Stoner Life Records – Slime Language (Album Review)

young-thug-slime-language.jpg

I’m not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed when I found out that “Slime Language” was a compilation album. That means in nearly ten years of being in the limelight, Young Thug has yet to bring out an official album. With that being said, this project looks to quench our thirsts for new Thugger music, but in all honesty, I’m pessimistic about its longevity.   (more…)
