Lil Pump – Lil Pump (Album Review)

Lil’ Pump sorta came out of nowhere right? The first time I heard him rap was on this silly J. Cole diss record, which made me think he was just another scoundrel that would do anything to taste rap fame. Well it seems like Pump is a little more than just that, as he was able to establish a pretty decent following through his outlandish trap music. With this debut self-titled project, I expect the rapper to continue to grow as an artist, but at the same time translate his youthful energy into something we can at least find respectable.

SmokePurpp – Deadstar (Album Review)

The album artwork/title should already tell you that this might be one of the more outlandish rap projects you will hear this year. As a ‘Deadstar’, is SmokePurpp talking about the rise and fall of being a rap star? Or is the fair-skinned rapper talking about the box he was projected to be in growing up in the dangerous side of Chicago? I don’t know, and this review will probably answer that question for me.

A Boogie Wit The Hoodie – The Bigger Artist (Album Review)

You won’t find a bigger fan of A Boogie Wit the Hoodie than me! With his carefree Harlem style, Boogie makes sure he catches our attention in ways that are both unpredictable and unconventional. With ‘The Bigger Artist’ (Which I find to be a pretty blah title), the 2017 XXL Freshman looks to dive into rap stardom head straight, making sure we all understand the importance of joining his wave early on in his career. LeCrae – All Things Work Together (Album Review)

Can I be honest with you guys? I’m not the biggest fan of Christian rap, especially when they try to put that facade up like they are normal rappers just speaking more positively than the trending ones. I don’t quite get that same vibe from LeCrae, as he comes across as this Christian rapper that ACTUALLY loves rap and wants to grow along with it. With ‘All Things Work Together’, I look forward to hearing what LeCrae has to say regarding a variety of topics, and anticipate feeling no dropoff in explosiveness in his music from any other rapper out today. G-Herbo – Humble Beast (Album Review)

B43F52CA-07DB-4AC6-B223-0838868AADDD

There is so many different sides to Chicago rap, which allows listeners to sorta pick which type of style fits them best. While each style rarely cross paths with one another, I think Herbo’s is one of the few exceptions.

Kevin Gates – By Any Means 2 (Album Review)

Think about all the rappers that ended up doing jail stints when they were in their prime: You got Tupac, Wayne, Tip, Gucci Mane, and now Kevin Gates. Even though I associate Gates with this group, something about his stint is a little different than the other rappers I mentioned in that list. I feel like Gates is this highly spiritual guy that has a lot to say, so when you put a muzzle on him, I anticipate all those bottled up feelings to manifest itself on a platform like this album.
