2 Chainz – Rap Or Go To The League (Album Review)

Rap_or_Go_to_the_League_cover.jpg

Let’s be real: Did you see 2 Chainz outlasting Ludacris in the rap game? If you said yes, you are a damn lie! When Chainz first emerged onto the scene with Playaz Circle, it felt like he was going to be one of those affiliates that ended up in Luda’s purgatory. Fortunately, through hard work, the Atlanta native has carved himself  out quite the career. On “Rap Or Go To The League,” Chainz gets to elaborate on what the odds looked like for him when he first thought about balling/rapping, and what you get to hear is beyond fascinating music.  (more…)

T-Pain – 1UP (Album Review)

T-Pain is still ticking, folks! After taking a bit of a hiatus from 2011 to 2017, he’s returned to his old form, releasing a bunch of music that has slapped these last three years. “1UP” is his latest body of work, and as expected, it features an explosive version of the legendary crooner that will get you all the way amped up. Gunna – Drip Or Drown 2 (Album Review)

You wanna know when I realized that Gunna was one of the hottest rappers in the game? When he appeared on both Mariah Carey and Usher’s albums within’ a month’s span. It’s obvious the hip-hop world is enamored with YSL’s whole drippy movement, and there is nothing Logic or I can do about it. Today, the movement manifests itself on a full length album called “Drip Or Drown 2.” (more…)

Lil Pump – Harverd Dropout (Album Review)

In every generation, there is a rapper that comes along that is so far left, they rub older generations the wrong way. In my lifetime, Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em was that guy, and for this generation, the avocado toast/Lamelo Ball-loving generation, Lil Pump is that guy. Today, Pump looks to prove he’s more than just a pip squeak that made it famous by glamorizing drugs and useless behavior with the release of “Harverd Dropout.” How will he do it? By convincing us that glamorizing drugs and useless behavior is a new normal he created. #Creatinganewnormalmakesyoualegend (more…)

August Alsina – Forever And A Day (Review)

Capture.PNG

In my eyes, August Alsina is as intriguing to listen to as any other R&B act in the game. I love his passion, I love his willingness to let loose vocally, and most importantly, I love how raw his content is. On “Forever And A Day,” he dives deep into his bag of tricks, gifting us with a body of work that is perfect for Valentines day.

Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y – 2009 (Album Review)

So what does the year 2009 represent for Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y? It was a time both rappers were on top of the game, as together, they were able to usher in a brand of hip-hop music that was loose, relaxing and catered to the stoners of the world. Today, listeners get a chance to relive some of their high moments (pun intended), as the dynamic duo decided to link up once more for “2009.”  (more…)

Ariana Grande – thank u, next (Album Review)

Let’s keep it real: Ariana Grande has been through a lot of s**t these last couple of months. While we were busy feeling sorry for her, all she has done is work her ass off in the studio, dropping hit after hit after hit. With the release of “thank u, next,” her latest album, the ponytailed singer looks to continue her winning ways, gifting us with a body of work that is just as personal as it is exciting. (more…)

Boogie – Everything’s For Sale (Album Review)

Boogie’s time being a little-known rapper in the game should come to an end tonight. With the release of “Everything’s For Sale,” not only do I expect to hear high praise from hip-hop fans once they listen to his highly intelligent bars, but I also expect a Wikipedia page to finally be put up for him. (Seriously, dude was in a Snickers commercial with the legendary Elton John, what else does he have to do to get a f**king Wikipedia page put up for him?) (more…)

Future – The WIZRD (Album Review)

capture.jpg

It’s hard to believe that Future has been relevant in the hip-hop game for ten years now. To put that in perspective, he’s had longer career success than Tupac, Biggie, Nelly and Ludacris. With the release of “THE WIZRD,” his 7th studio album, he looks to continue his impressive run, doing it in a way that hip-hop critics have no choice but to respect.  (more…)

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie – Hoodie SZN (Album Review)

img_3378

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is one of the few rappers in the game that I find fascinating. Musically, he raps and sings equally as well, but in all honesty, it’s his backstory that intrigues me the most. Hailing from Highbridge in Bronx, NY, Boogie has this authentic street-persona that has made him a hero to the people of his city. However, after releasing a few hit records, he has sort-of swayed away from that world, instead, dabbling in music that is more on the commercial side of the things. With Hoodie SZN, I expect for him to go back to his gritty roots, which means savage content and a lot more street-inspired music. (more…)
