Meek Mill – Wins and Losses (Album Review)

Do you know the only thing better than the story of a winner? The story of the underdog, especially when they were on top at one point and had to humble themselves a bit… This is the vibe I expect from this new album.

One of the biggest hurdles that rap artists deal with today, is finding subjects to talk about, and Meek has plenty for this album: You got breakups, you got a feud with the hottest rapper in the game, and you have his city that he continues to represent in many different ways. While I am not expecting 4:44 part II from him, I am expecting Meek to open up a little more on this album, delivering yet another chapter in the life and times of Philly’s poster boy. (more…)

Nav & Metro Boomin’ – Perfect Timing (Album Review)

You know what I like most about Nav? He gives off this mysterious persona to people when you see him in person (and music videos), but when he raps, he is quite revealing about his personal life. With Nav’s disturbing addiction to drugs being a major topic in his lyrics, listeners are given a chance to really get a glimpse of the self-proclaimed ‘Brown Boy”s journey to happiness.  (more…)

For many, WizKids arrival to the music scene started with his feature on Drake’s ‘One Dance’, but true fans of his know that his music has been a major staple around the globe for years (especially in his hometown of Nigeria). With Nigerian music becoming more and more prevalent in the American clubs today, WizKid looks to stand as the poster boy of that movement with his new commercial album called ‘Sounds From The Other Side’.

French Montana – Jungle Rules (Album Review)

img_0293

French Montana’s projects has been so poorly managed that I am convinced Fonzworth Bentley is officially running the operations for Bad Boy; with that being said, this album ‘Jungle Rules’ (Which followed up the poorly managed Mac & cheese III) seems to have a little bit of promise to it, as it had more of a traditional rollout. While Montana isn’t the best rapper out, he does know how to put together a good song, making this a potential candidate for summers go-to album. (more…)

Calvin Harris – Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 (Review & Stream)

DJ Khaled ain’t the only one making DJ money outchea! These DJ’s like Calvin Harris are caking, and also have clout in the industry that is hard to overlook. With this new album, Calvin continues to mix and match artists from all genres to create a project that is as unpredictable as it gets when it comes to music. (more…)

Jay-Z – 4:44 (Album Review)

Isn’t it a blessing to have friends that have Sprint as their wireless service?  🙂

It’s hard to believe that Jay-Z’s last release was “Magna Carta Holy Grail’, an album that I thought featured a very snobby version of the MC. Since then, a lot has happened to the Brooklyn MC, including the release of a controversial album by his famous wife. While the personal lives of these millionaires probably suffered a bit at the time of the release, I do think this public conflict reinvigorated the 47 year old legend to get back into the studio and be the rapper that trifling asses like myself can once again relate to.

Vince Staples – Big Fish Theory (Album Review)

Aside from Vince being this hilarious figure on social media, he might be one of the top young talents in the game right now! One of Vince’s biggest attributes is his willingness to be himself, not being afraid to deviate from the music that we consider hot today. With this new album, I expect to be thrown off a bit, as Vince tries to drag you into his highly unpredictable world.  (more…)
