YG – Stay Dangerous (Album Review)

We all know YG reps ‘you know what,’ doesn’t f**k with ‘you know who,’ and does his best to put on the city of ‘you know where’ in his raps. Ironically, as he continues to ascend into the A-list tier of rappers, he’s stayed pretty constant with this theme. With the release of “Stay Dangerous,” do you expect anything to be different? With songs like SUUWOOP,” “BOMPTOWN FINEST” and “BULLETPROOF” listed on the track-list, you should expect to be served a body of work that sets a very crooked hip hop game straight. (more…)

Future – BEASTMODE 2 (Mixtape Review)

What a pleasant surprise Future Hendrix has decided to give us with the release of “BEASTMODE 2!” It’s not like he was away from the music scene for a long time, though, as he just gifted us with a fantastic soundtrack to the “Superfly” movie less than a month ago. But you know what they say, right? Hustler’s never sleep, and since music is Future’s product these days, I expect something addictive from him on this short project that is capable of giving the songs on my summer playlist a run for its money.  (more…)

Casanova – Commissary (Album Review)

Casanova is one of the few MC’s in the game that gives me these 90’s vibes when he raps. He isn’t super lyrical, but believes that hip hop music’s main ingredient should be energy — just like the MC’s from back in the day thought. Granted, the energy he gives off isn’t quite family friendly, but nonetheless, it is invigorating enough to hype you up and make you think about doing something that might get you arrested. With his debut album, “Commissary,” I look for the NYC native to kick ass and take names, using a style that is now considered unique in hip hop.  (more…)

Freddie Gibbs – Freddie (Album Review)

I had no clue Freddie Gibbs had an album on the way… Matter of fact, I had no clue he can look like the 2018 version of Jeffrey from Fresh Prince of Bel Air either (Peep the album artwork above). Both aspects shouldn’t have any bearing on what the album is going to sound like, right? (more…)

LeCrae & Zaytoven – Let The Trap Say Amen (Album Review)

LeCrae, one of my favorite gospel rappers of all time, decided to take his brand to the trap, linking up with one of its legendary producers in Zaytoven. Lets see how this turns out.

Kids See Ghost – Kids See Ghost (Album Review)

Another week, another major Kanye West produced project. The latest episode features two of my favorite artists in Kid Cudi and West, so trust that I’m excited about it. Interestingly enough, this collaboration was very close to not happening… Just a few years ago, the two midwest legends had a bit of a falling out while they were both going through a few things in their personal lives. Since then, they’ve reunited, and promised to have as good a music relationship as they ever had. With all that being said, I guess the major question to ask is what do I think this album is going to sound like? I say a smidge of cockiness, a good amount of infectious melodies, and lots of craziness! (more…)

Fetty Wap – Bruce Wayne (Review)

Fetty Wap has been pretty damn consistent this year. It started with the release of his “FMF 3” project — a solid body of work that reminded me of his old music. Today, the New Jersey native decided to drop yet another project (A day early at that) called “Bruce Wayne,” and it looks to feature a version of Fetty that is motivated to show the world his versatility. (more…)
