For many, WizKids arrival to the music scene started with his feature on Drake’s ‘One Dance’, but true fans of his know that his music has been a major staple around the globe for years (especially in his hometown of Nigeria). With Nigerian music becoming more and more prevalent in the American clubs today, WizKid looks to stand as the poster boy of that movement with his new commercial album called ‘Sounds From The Other Side’.

French Montana – Jungle Rules (Album Review)

img_0293

French Montana’s projects has been so poorly managed that I am convinced Fonzworth Bentley is officially running the operations for Bad Boy; with that being said, this album ‘Jungle Rules’ (Which followed up the poorly managed Mac & cheese III) seems to have a little bit of promise to it, as it had more of a traditional rollout. While Montana isn’t the best rapper out, he does know how to put together a good song, making this a potential candidate for summers go-to album. (more…)

Jay-Z – 4:44 (Album Review)

Isn’t it a blessing to have friends that have Sprint as their wireless service?  ðŸ™‚

It’s hard to believe that Jay-Z’s last release was “Magna Carta Holy Grail’, an album that I thought featured a very snobby version of the MC. Since then, a lot has happened to the Brooklyn MC, including the release of a controversial album by his famous wife. While the personal lives of these millionaires probably suffered a bit at the time of the release, I do think this public conflict reinvigorated the 47 year old legend to get back into the studio and be the rapper that trifling asses like myself can once again relate to.

DJ Khaled – Grateful (Album Review)

Don’t you feel like DJ Khaled made the album of his life with this ‘Grateful’ project? The features and quality of music are outstanding on this album, which indicates to me that he wanted to blow people away. With 23 songs featured on this album, Khaled made sure he aimed for our satisfaction with plenty of ammo in his arsenal.

Young Thug – Beautiful Thugger Girls (Album Review)

Does anyone know what to expect from this mysterious new project by Thugger? There was some speculation that it was co-produced by Drake, and other speculation that it would be all R&B (Which sounds intriguing). Nonetheless, whichever direction Thugger decides to go, you can guarantee that there will be some heat on it for sure. (more…)

Fetty Wap – Lucky No. 7 (Mixtape Review)

I’m old enough to remember when Fetty Wap was nominated for a Grammy…. While I don’t expect such a catastrophic thing to happen again, Fetty is good enough to at least drop decent music right?

Yo Gotti – Gotti Made It (Album Review)

Gotti-Made-It-Cover

In a rap world where collaborations between artists and producers are becoming very prevalent, Gotti was able to link up with the one guy that could create the perfect platform for him to speak his street s—t (Mike Will Made It). ‘Gotti Made It’ promises to have bangers, and also some more trap laws that the uninformed can abide to. Gucci Mane – Drop Top Wop (Album Review)

Gucci Mane has a really good relationship with some of the heavy-hitting producers in the game right now, and apparently one of them is Metro Boomin’. With this new album called ‘Drop Top Wop’, Gucci collaborates with Metro for 10 trap-inspired theme songs. (more…)

Lil Yachty – Teenage Emotions (Album Review)

Dear Readers,

This is an open letter to you guys to explain the possible favorable review I have given Yachty’s album.

Readers, I once felt like you when it came to Lil Yachty: I also thought he was this young kid that was not necessarily fond of the hard work that the pioneers of rap helped create, almost making a mockery of the genre with his wild and crazy antics. But one day I took the time to look at music from the red braided (probably snotty nosed) kids point of view, and found solace….

When you think about it, Yachty represents what rap is all about: Free, no rules, say what you wanna. While the results of this style translated to lots of poor quality music from him, I can respect it, because at one time America probably felt this way about every single rap song that was released. So as I begin to rate this album, I will look at it from a Rugrats point of view. Lets start the show! (more…)

Bryson Tiller – True To Self (Album Review)

Is there anyone in the industry cooler than Tiller? I remember becoming a huge fan of his when he did his BET performance in 2015: He had no background singers, no dancers, just him and a mic – this made the performance feel like such an authentic experience. Judging by this album cover, you can tell Tiller will put more of his deep down thoughts into each song, granting fans an opportunity to know a little more about the Louisville kid. (more…)
