MoneyBagg Yo – RESET (Album Review)

When it comes to listening to authentic/unadulterated trap music, MoneyBagg Yo is one of my go-to-artists! Something about his persona resonates with me, despite the fact that the words ‘Money Bag,’  ‘Trap’ or even ‘Yo’ represent things I know absolutely nothing about. Anyway, in his first studio album, he looks to put all the supposed real ones onto game, gifting us with a fifteen track doozy that almost plays like a hood bible.    (more…)

Vince Staples – FM! (Album Review)

Vince Staple’s releases have been special thus far. I feel like he’s done a great job of incorporating some very artsy aspects into his music, blending them well with hardcore rap elements that the gangstas he grew up with in Long Beach can f**k with. In his latest project, “FM,” he looks to continue catering to his Cali roots, dropping a body of work that features nothing but the toughest of tracks. (more…)

Look who decided to make his unexpected return to the hip hop scene today, folks! To be completely honest with you, I am not the biggest fan of BlocBoy JB, mainly because I see him as your average trap rapper that lacks originality. However, I can’t argue with his hit-making ability, as his resume boosts two of the biggest club bangers of 2018 (Look Alive and Rover). In the Memphis native’s “Don’t Think That” EP, he attempts to show the world that his success is no fluke, gifting us with a versatile body of work that will very well surprise some. (more…)

Black Eyed Peas – Masters Of The Sun (Album Review)

Once upon a time, Black Eyed Peas were a high-selling musical act that had at least one hit a year. As time passed, they’ve become a bit of a forgotten commodity in the game, which is quite a surprise considering how high they were when they were at their peak. In “MASTERS OF THE SUN,” the band looks to recreate some of their magic, reverting back to a style of music they utilized when they first hit the scene. (more…)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign are two of the most important R&B singers in the game right now. They are both go-to artists for rappers that want some soulful crooning in their music, and in their solo efforts, I believe they have delivered some of the most timeless records out. Today, they join forces for “MIH-TY,” and as one of their biggest fans, I expect greatness. (more…)

Tory Lanez has worked his way into hip hop’s elite by hard-work and determination. In “Love Me Now,” he talks about finally being on rap’s Mount Rushmore, touching on the good, the bad and ‘the ugly that comes with success for literally 16 straight bangers. (more…)

Brent Faiyaz isn’t quite a household name right now, despite being Grammy-nominated for his contributions on GoldLink and Shy Glizzy’s sizzling hot “Crew” record. Today, the Columbia, MD native looks to continue his rise up the charts, releasing a six track EP that I think is as intriguing as it gets. (more…)

Lil Yachty – Nuthin’ 2 Prove (Album Review)

Screen Shot 2018-10-18 at 8.28.54 PM

Actually, Lil Yachty does have quite a bit to prove… Despite dropping a few solid verses on other artists’ s**t, he hasn’t quite delivered a full body of work that has caught my attention yet. My hope is that he was f**kin’ with us on those first two albums, and that this third one is the real deal. I doubt it, but I’ll remain hopeful. (more…)

Khalid – Sun City (EP Review)

Khalid is special. I don’t care about what he has going on in his personal life, I simply listen to his music, enjoy it, and that is it. With a debut album that had the world falling in love with vulnerable R&B music again, Khalid looks to expand on his low-key popularity even farther, gifting us with a short EP titled “Sun City.”  (more…)

Shy Glizzy – Fully Loaded (Album Review)

DC native, Shy Glizzy, patiently waited for his time to shine in a hip hop game that has treated other DMV artists really well these last couple of years. In his first true project, he looks to turn heads and show the world why he was once named one of the major artists to look out for by Complex. (more…)
