DJ Khaled – Grateful (Album Review)

Don’t you feel like DJ Khaled made the album of his life with this ‘Grateful’ project? The features and quality of music are outstanding on this album, which indicates to me that he wanted to blow people away. With 23 songs featured on this album, Khaled made sure he aimed for our satisfaction with plenty of ammo in his arsenal.

Big Boi – Boomiverse (Album Review)

To many, Big Boi is the ‘other’ member of Outkast, but to me, he is a legendary rapper that created the pimpish persona that several rappers are rapping with today. While he is no rookie to the solo releases, he has been M.I.A. for a while, finally emerging after a 5 year hiatus. On this album, Big Boi looks to get back to his audacious ways, recruiting some of the most vivacious artists out in the industry. (more…)

Young Thug – Beautiful Thugger Girls (Album Review)

Does anyone know what to expect from this mysterious new project by Thugger? There was some speculation that it was co-produced by Drake, and other speculation that it would be all R&B (Which sounds intriguing). Nonetheless, whichever direction Thugger decides to go, you can guarantee that there will be some heat on it for sure. (more…)

2 Chainz – Pretty Girls Like Trap Music (Album Review)

I don’t think anyone will argue with me when I tell you that 2 Chainz has been one of the biggest hitmakers in hip hop the last 2 years. Tity Boy has always brought this amusing sound to trap music, often mixing in outlandish lyrics with great animation. While I feel 2 Chainz breakout album was ‘Based On A T.R.U. Story’, I feel like this album could actually take him to another stratosphere.  (more…)

SZA – CTRL (Album Review)

It’s been a long time coming for the R&B songstress, but SZA finally had her day to bless the world with her unique body of work. Just in case you haven’t heard of SZA before, she is this weird  hippie like awkward artist from St. Louis that has no problem being the oddball in an industry that looking cool is usually the end all be all. With this album, SZA tries to convince individuals that her style of music can also be enjoyable as the other s–t out, as she convinces us that there are no poster girls when it comes to making music. (more…)

Yo Gotti – Gotti Made It (Album Review)

Gotti-Made-It-Cover

In a rap world where collaborations between artists and producers are becoming very prevalent, Gotti was able to link up with the one guy that could create the perfect platform for him to speak his street s—t (Mike Will Made It). ‘Gotti Made It’ promises to have bangers, and also some more trap laws that the uninformed can abide to. Gucci Mane – Drop Top Wop (Album Review)

gucci-mane-metro-boomin-drop-top-wop-ddotomen

Gucci Mane has a really good relationship with some of the heavy-hitting producers in the game right now, and apparently one of them is Metro Boomin’. With this new album called ‘Drop Top Wop’, Gucci collaborates with Metro for 10 trap-inspired theme songs. (more…)

Bryson Tiller – True To Self (Album Review)

Is there anyone in the industry cooler than Tiller? I remember becoming a huge fan of his when he did his BET performance in 2015: He had no background singers, no dancers, just him and a mic – this made the performance feel like such an authentic experience. Judging by this album cover, you can tell Tiller will put more of his deep down thoughts into each song, granting fans an opportunity to know a little more about the Louisville kid. (more…)

Goapele – Dreamseaker (Album Review & Stream)

goapele-dreamseeker

On Goapele’s new album ‘Dreamseeker’, you get to hear R&B music that is almost fantasy-like for the ears. Her strong/strapping voice will jump out at you on every song, as she imposes her will over many different styles of music. (more…)

Snoop Dogg – Neva Left (Album Review)

When you think about Snoop and the impact he’s had on the rap game, you will realize that he is beyond legendary. While his hunger to make good music has somewhat dissipated, it seems like this album has got him feeling like it is 1994 again.  (more…)

T Pain & Lil Wayne – T-Wayne (Album Review)

in 2009, T-Pain and Lil Wayne were top 5’s in their genres, so when they talked about releasing music together, it had somewhat of a best of both worlds type of potential. Well since then, Wayne has had a stalemate in terms of releasing new albums, T-Pain kinda got his style emulated by every rap artist out, and an artist by the name of T-Wayne made a major hit in the clubs. While saying this album is long overdue is an understatement, their once upon of time buzz is enough to garner some interest from folks. (more…)
