The Weeknd wasn’t the only artist to drop a sensual six track project this weekend, Tink also did. In “Pain & Pleasure,” the Illinois based rapper/singer was able to dive deep into our feelings, giving us something that is sultry enough to consider staying home with your lover as opposed to hitting up The Park at 14th street for the night. DJ Esco – KolorBlind (Album Review)

Dear Readers,

My birthday is this weekend, so I’m going to need a few songs to get me amped up and s**t, and think DJ Esco’s “KolorBlind” might do the trick! With lots of Future featured on the project, I expect an abundance of bangers, especially considering the fact that Esco and Hendrix has built up quite the rapport these last couple of years. As a reviewer, I never like to play cheerleader, but today, I’m hoping Esco can deliver a masterpiece for ‘ass shaking’ purposes.

There are a lot of great features on this project: Future, ScHoolboy Q, Nas, and plenty more!  (more…)

Lil Durk – Just Cause Ya’ll Waited (Album Review)

I feel like Lil Durk is Chicago’s golden child, so to a few of them, it might feel like a bit of a disappointment that he no longer has a major record deal. I actually think it’s a blessing in disguise, because I feel like he’s even hungrier than he was before — a hungry Durk is a Durk that I think will shock many in the music industry.  (more…)

Rich The Kid – The World Is Yours (Album Review)

Lets keep it real: Rich The Kid is the poster boy for this new age rap s**t. He’s flashy (See the album artwork), gets plenty of love from the heavy-weights in the game, and mumble raps with the best of them. As a leader of the new school, I think it is imperative that he drops a body of work that confirms his potential, especially considering the fact that there are plenty of ‘Lil Whateva’s” that are willing to knock him off that top spot. I have my doubts and I have some faith in the ATL kid, and expect answers to both on this new album.

This album boasts some really good features: Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Khalid, Chris Brown, Future & more!

The Weeknd – My Dear Melachony (Album Review)

Would you look at this, folks! The Weeknd has decided to drop a six track project tonight called “My Dear Melachony” as an early birthday gift for me (My Birthday is Saturday)! I’m honored, I’m appalled, and I’m bit choked up (But I actually think it’s these Flamin Cheetos that I’m currently eating thats got me choked up). Just because of that, I expect greatness, and a few lovely words for yours, truly. Ok, all jokes aside, I think the main reason we  were granted this project was because The Weeknd wanted to remind the people just how much of a staple he can be when it comes to soulful R&B music. Rumor has it, this album was inspired by his earlier projects, which means us as listeners should expect a whole lot of sappiness. Ladies and gentlemen, get your ice cream tubs and Kleenexs out. Milo Case – Pillow Talking Weather (Album Review)

It’s fairly obvious that music was in Milo Case’s future from the start. Named after famous Jazzman, Miles Davis, the Richmond, VA product has paved the way for innovative rap music by blending in a myriad of urban sounds together that, quite frankly, other artists are scared to blend. In his newest full length effort, Miles looks to dabble in the R&B genre for about 13 and a half songs, creating this sensual masterpiece that isn’t afraid to push boundaries when it comes to how young studs view romance.

ChrisdaCEO is one successful dude. At the age of 20, he is already the CEO of DReaM TeaM and the Co-Founder of D.B.G Records. At this point, ChrisdaCEO’s business acumen demands all of our respect. In “Legacy II,” the Ohio native looks to impress us with his music, delivering this 12 track gem that has him dabbling in a myriad of genres. I look forward to the project, and anticipate being blown away with ChrisdaCEO’s versatility.

Lucius P. Thundercat – Black History Legend (Album Review)

It is clear that Lucius P. Thundercat believes in his people, dedicating this 10 track project titled “Black History Legend” to our community. I’m not mad at it either, because with all the f**kery going on in this world these days, we may need a hero for our people that is as gallant as Lucius is. (more…)

Ace A Caped Crusader – Whxte (Album Review)

Lets keep it all the way real: Ace A Caped Crusader is probably cooler than you and I. Seriously, when he raps, it is typically with this sly style that is as easy-going as it gets.  in “Whxte,” our hero lets us know that there is more to his story, as he gives us 9 tracks of heartfelt music that digs deep into his dark yet scintillating thoughts.
