Machine Gun Kelly – bloom (Album Review)

You know my biggest take away from Machine Gun Kelly’s music lately? It seems like he has this willingness to drop songs that aren’t limited to just rap, which is an attitude I actually like a lot. With this new album called ‘Bloom’, I see Machine Gun experimenting more than ever, which means you should expect the unexpected on it. (more…)

Kid Ink – 7 Series (EP) (Album Review)

Anyone else disappointed with where Kid Ink’s career has went? This EP sorta just released in the background, which shouldn’t happen for a pretty good artist like this. Nonetheless, I still believe in Ink’s talent, so rating this album is not a burden for me.

Logic – Everybody (Album Review)

Hasn’t Logic had such an interesting trajectory to where he is now? He is not the biggest name in Hip Hop, but he has this aurora to him that makes it seem like everything he says is the holy grail. With each new album he releases, the more his legend continues to grow, meaning this racially influenced album could really elevate his name. (more…)

Young M.A. – HerStory (Album Review)

Like the other one hit wonders of the world will tell you, that burdensome label is a very scary thing to have to deal with in your career. While those past artists have all made some really good music outside of their one hit, they will never be looked at as staples to the genre that they dominated for those 15 minutes. While I think Young M.A .is a talented spitter that has a knack for being a real one whenever she raps, she is also the maker of a song called ‘Oooh’ that was so good that many think she will not be able to top it.  I personally think Young M.A. is better than just a one hit wonder, which is why I think this EP is hella important to prove her potential. Wale – SHINE (Album Review)

I’ll be the first to remind you that Wale has underachieved a bit in his career, and maybe that is because we have always had high expectations for him, and he just hasn’t delivered that one album that has blown us away yet. The good news is this: Every new album he releases is another chance to prove himself, so let’s see if he can finally impress us this time around. (more…)

Joey Bada$$ – ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$ (Album Review)

When you look up the word ‘Underrated’, Joey Bada$$’s name will come up in big bold letters in the dictionary. We talk so much about the Cole’s of the world, the Kendrick’s of the world, but I think Joey can hold his own when you do comparisons with them. Overall, I think this new album titled ‘ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$’ will show us all that Joey is more than just a dude with a curse word in his name – he’s a dude with a curse word in his name capable of spitting deep knowledge.  (more…)

Kodak Black – Painting Pictures (Album Review)

You know what frustrates me the most about Kodak Black? I can see his talent, I can see his love for music, but for some reason he just can’t stay out of trouble (Sorta reminds me of a young Gucci Mane). Luckily, we are treated to this debut album before he does something stupid again that is going to get him locked up.

So why am I excited for this debut? Not only do I want to hear his unique style of music, but I am also excited to hear why he has such a gutter mentality. (more…)

Trey Songz – Tremaine The Album (Album Review)

Can I go ahead and state the obvious? R&B music like Trey’s has been a bit underappreciated by the masses as of late. It seems like nowadays everybody sings, and for some backwards reason the masses are gravitating towards the rappers that sing as opposed to the singers that sing. With this new album by Trey Songz coming out, maybe that taste the world once had for good R&B music will return. (more…)

GoldLink – At What Cost (Album Review)

BY POPULAR DEMAND, I am reviewing GoldLink’s “At What Cost” album! You guys know I usually tweet out if I think a project is dope or not, and save the details for the review; I did not do so this time around, instead, I took to Twitter and simply said: “I have a few things to say about this GoldLink project” and left it at that. It’s been about a month now, so it’s time to speak up. I will not sugar coat shit here, and I will not say what you guys want me to say about this album; with that being said, I’ve always thought GoldLink was dope and had potential, but now I STRONGLY BELIEVE he could be something serious and is here to stay and shake up the game forever.

Nav – NAV (Album Review)

navmixtape

I’m not gonna sit up here and act like I knew who Nav was before I rated this album, he is a completely new face to me. Shortly before he released this debut album called ‘NAV’, The Weeknd gave him a pretty big endorsement, which nowadays is usually enough to garner a buzz big enough for me to rate an artist; So will he do enough to impress the bandit that he is here to stay?  (more…)
